Three parties respond to Noia’s letter about the offshore oil & gas industry

Noia has received responses from three of the Newfoundland and Labrador political parties participating in the 2021 Provincial General Election. On January 22, 2021 Noia wrote the four parties fielding candidates with a series of questions about issues of great importance to the offshore oil and gas industry and the supply and service sector. Parties were asked to provide their responses by February 4, 2021.

The questions posed by Noia covered a wide range of industry issues: local content and protection of the Atlantic Accord; support for the local supply and service sector; incentives for offshore exploration and development projects to attract investment and stimulate activity; promotion of the offshore; life-of-field benefits; seismic surveys; emissions reduction; health and safety; and creating a globally competitive regulatory regime.

Responses have been provided to Noia by the Progressive Conservative Party, the Liberal Party, and the New Democratic Party. Noia encourages all members to review the responses prior to voting in the current election. Further, Noia members and industry supporters are encouraged to discuss the offshore oil and gas industry with individual candidates and to share information with colleagues and friends about the industry and the party responses to Noia and their platforms.

Noia’s letter and the responses can be found on the association’s website and its social media platforms (@NoiaNL).

Issued by Noia on February 5, 2021.
