The More Things Change: Industry & Economic Outlook

As the world deals with geopolitical and economic uncertainty, the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition 2026 will open with an examination of current energy circumstances and trends, including how these situations impact the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry. This session will highlight the advantages of Newfoundland and Labrador and set the stage for discussion throughout the week.  

Local Content: Why it Matters

The Newfoundland and Labrador offshore oil and gas industry was built upon the Atlantic Accord which established joint management and intended to support a world-class supply and service sector. This session will examine the current and future engagement of the supply and service sector in the energy industry and why local content matters, including a case study of international practice and ways to monitor local content within the province.

Regulatory Review: Legislative Approaches Working for You

The regulatory landscape is everchanging and the energy industry thrives with certainty. The mandates and roles of regulators are evolving, and a federal office has been created to help projects move through the regulatory process in a manner that builds Canada and drives the economy. This session will discuss the latest discourse on a regulatory system that is looking to help - not hinder - development through effective and efficient regulations and project reviews.

The Path from Engagement to Inclusion: Indigenous Success Stories

As the energy industry looks to move forward with major infrastructure projects, inclusion of Indigenous businesses and communities is a must. A panel of Indigenous business leaders will discuss how we move beyond simple consultation and engagement to co-ownership, with examples of success stories from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Opportunity Atlantic: Powering the World

Opportunity is abound in the clean energy sector, none more poignant in Atlantic Canada than in the area of clean electricity driven by renewable energy such as hydro and wind. As the Atlantic provinces look to take next steps on renewable energy, opportunities will exist for Energy NL members to play leading roles in these energy projects and bring their skills and expertise to the dams, turbines, powerhouses, and transmission lines of the future.
