The following candidates are seeking election for the 2025-2026 Energy NL Board of Directors:

Brad Forsey, Director of Business Development at The Cahill Group 

Brad Forsey brings over two decades of experience in the energy and construction sectors, along with a deep commitment to building a stronger, more competitive industry for Newfoundland and Labrador. As Director of Business Development for The Cahill Group, Brad has forged strong relationships across the industry, advocated for local businesses, and championed growth in both traditional and emerging energy sectors.

Brad’s career began in the field—starting with a move to Western Canada before eventually returning to Newfoundland and Labrador with The Cahill Group. In 2008, he worked hands-on as a Welding Specialist on the Husky North Amethyst and NARL projects. He quickly advanced into leadership roles in Quality and Estimating before transitioning to business development, where he has played a pivotal role in positioning Cahill as a leader in oil and gas, hydro, renewables, and institutional projects. Brad has also been instrumental in Cahill’s involvement in all major Atlantic and Western Canada oil and gas projects, including Hibernia, Hebron, White Rose, and Terra Nova, while also leading initiatives in renewables and utilities work in Newfoundland and Labrador. He is excited about the future development of Newfoundland and Labrador industries.

As a dedicated director of Energy NL for the past two years, Brad has demonstrated his leadership in driving positive change. He has worked to promote the industry’s strengths and potential while supporting Energy NL’s evolving mandate. Brad is also actively involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives, continuing to advocate for meaningful programs that strengthen both the province’s workforce and the future of the energy industry.

Brad’s leadership extends beyond the boardroom—he is deeply committed to community engagement. As Secretary of the Arnold’s Cove Chamber of Commerce, he advocates for local businesses and economic development. He is also a strong proponent of establishing and developing Indigenous community relationships and partnerships, ensuring that these connections remain a priority in Newfoundland and Labrador’s energy sector.

Brad resides in Paradise with his wife, Jaimie, and their three active young boys.

Susan Collins, Vice President Business Development at PF Collins International Trade Solutions 

Susan Collins has more than two decades of experience in logistics and project transportation and is a seasoned leader in energy and offshore industries. As Vice President of Business Development at PF Collins International Trade Solutions, she oversees the company’s strategic planning, client services, contract administration, and marketing and sales initiatives. Her expertise lies in managing complex transportation logistics for large-scale projects, ensuring the smooth delivery of goods and services that are critical to the energy sector.

Susan’s career began after earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University in 2003. She honed her skills in Calgary, where she worked in various aspects of the energy industry, including materials management, project logistics, and corporate tax affairs. Her time in Calgary equipped her with a deep understanding of the broader energy industry, laying the groundwork for her later work in Newfoundland and Labrador.

After returning to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010, Susan joined PF Collins, where she has made great strides to contribute to the company’s growth and success. Over the years, she has held several key roles within PF Collins and was promoted to Vice President of Business Development in 2017. Her leadership in strategic business growth has been instrumental in expanding the company’s client base and solidifying its position as a trusted partner in the energy and offshore industries. Susan is also a current member of the Energy NL 2025 Conference Committee.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Susan is a dedicated volunteer and active community leader. Having served as a director for many well-regarded organizations, including the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee, Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, her commitment to giving back to the community reflects her deep sense of responsibility and dedication to making a positive impact.

In 2022, Energy NL recognized Susan’s outstanding achievements with the Energy NL Rising Star Award. Her contributions to her profession and community were also recognized when Susan was honoured with the Aidan Maloney Young Professionals Award from the St. John’s Northwest Rotary Club in 2017.

Susan’s strategic mindset, extensive background in the energy sector, leadership experience, and community involvement uniquely positions her to contribute to the success of Energy NL.

Susan currently resides in St. John’s with her partner, two dynamic little girls, and active dog Ellie.



Nicholas Croke, Area Manager – Eastern Canada at Halliburton Group Canada 

Running for Board of Directors Nick Croke is the Area Manager for Halliburton Group Canada based in Mount Pearl, NL.

Nick joined Halliburton straight out of MUN – Mechanical Engineering back in 2010.  Since joining Halliburton, Nick has worked offshore and onshore Newfoundland as well as his early career was spent in New Iberia, Louisiana as a Technical Professional.  This experience allowed Nick to prepare for the Hebron startup bringing new technologies to Newfoundland.  Over the years, Nick progressed up the chain taking on roles with increased responsibility.  Nick was the Completions Service Manager as well as the BD Lead for Completions.

In 2022, Nick became the Area Manger for Eastern Canada.  Coming out of Covid, Nick recognized the need for connection in the industry and restarted the Annual Halliburton Golf Tournament, bringing together the whole supply chain of our offshore industry together while raising funds for the Iris Kirby House.

As an active member of Energy NL, Nick is  excited to run for a Director position on the Board of Directors, bringing a balanced perspective from the local service sector to the board.  Nick understands the power of advocacy and how important it is in today’s world where Offshore Canada’s clean energy is so important.

Nick was born and raised in St. John’s Newfoundland. Nick and his wife Robyn – a Pediatric Doctor in the community are proud parents to two amazing kids, Jack and Charlotte.  In his free time, Nick enjoys travelling with his family, spending time outdoors and a little golfing!

Stephen Kelly, Director (Advisory) at KPMG Canada

Stephen’s extensive industry exposure and business acumen make him a strong candidate for Energy NL’s Board of Directors. His ability to balance stakeholder interest against organizational focus and resourcing aligns with Energy NL’s commitment to advocacy and collaboration among industry partners across various established and emerging energy value chains. Stephen holds a Master of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) in Waterloo, Ontario and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL. The combination of his education and senior-level business development roles are strengthened by extensive experience across domestic and international markets.

Stephen serves as a Director (Advisory) for KPMG Canada, acting as an advisor and connector to help navigate complex landscapes within Atlantic Canada’s transformational industries such as energy, healthcare and natural resources within both the public and private space. Prior to joining KPMG in October 2021, Stephen found himself at the forefront of technological innovation and maritime operational excellence as the Canadian Area Sales Manager with responsibilities for the Americas for two of the world’s leading marine simulation providers. Focused on growth he travelled throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Europe gaining a unique perspective on developing critical Business-to-Government (B2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) capex and opex based projects across the Canadian Association of Marine Training Institutes, DND/RCN, the Canadian Coast Guard, Canadian Port Authorities and Marine Pilotage, offshore and cruise ship operators, Federal and Provincial Governments and transatlantic shipping companies.

As a dedicated member of Energy NL, Stephen maintains regular attendance at events and networking opportunities. He champions diversity and inclusion initiatives through his mentorship role with KPMG’s Thrive Network. Additionally, his regional leadership in KPMG’s annual Movember campaign highlights his commitment to health and community engagement.

Emily McNamara, Corporate Controller at Horizon Maritime Services Ltd.

Emily McNamara is an accomplished leader with a diverse background in accounting, finance, and strategic planning. As the Corporate Controller at Horizon Maritime Services Ltd., she plays a vital role in overseeing financial operations and providing strategic insights that contribute to the company’s growth and success in the Oil & Gas industry. Emily’s expertise extends beyond financial reporting and budgeting, as she actively engages in discussions around organizational direction, employee engagement, and long-term business strategies.

Emily’s professional career began in real estate and professional sports within the province, before transitioning to the energy sector, where she has flourished for the past two years. Her ability to analyze complex financial data while contributing to broader organizational goals has positioned her as a trusted advisor and leader within Horizon Maritime Services.

Emily’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memorial University and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation from CPA Canada, where she specialized in tax and finance. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development ensures that she remains at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.

Beyond her role at Horizon Maritime, Emily is passionate about giving back to her community through meaningful volunteer work. She serves as a Director with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland, where she advocates for youth empowerment and mentorship. As a member of the Finance subcommittee, she contributes her expertise in setting annual goals, preparing budgets, and providing valuable insights to help guide the organization’s strategic direction. Emily also volunteers with Girl Guides of Canada as a non-member leader with the Topsail unit of Sparks, where she fosters leadership and inclusivity among young girls. Additionally, she is an active member of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA Canada), where she supports the advancement of women in the maritime industry.

Emily’s passion for empowering others extends beyond her volunteer work, as she advocates for diversity and inclusion in traditionally male-dominated industries. Her dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued underscores her belief that diversity strengthens organizations and drives innovation.

In her leisure time, Emily enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking with her husband, young daughter, and their dogs. She also stays engaged in her local community by participating in various activities throughout the Town of Conception Bay South. Emily’s ability to balance professional excellence with community involvement highlights her commitment to making a positive impact both within and beyond her career.

With her leadership, expertise, and unwavering dedication, Emily continues to be a driving force in her industry and an inspiring role model in her community.



Karen Perry, Mechanical Engineer at Hatch Ltd

Karen Perry is a professional engineer and energy transition advocate dedicated to advancing energy solutions in Newfoundland and Labrador. She currently works for Hatch Ltd in the energy sector, where she contributes to a diverse array of projects, ranging from lower carbon oil production to renewable fuels and hydroelectric initiatives.

Karen has served as a director for Energy NL from 2023 to 2025 and is now seeking re-election. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland (2019) and an MBA in Energy Transition from the University of Groningen (2024). This unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen equips Karen with the skills necessary to navigate the complex landscape of energy projects and drive impactful change.

Throughout her career, Karen has been involved in a wide range of energy projects, including offshore operations and renewable energy initiatives in Newfoundland and Labrador. Recently, she has focused on identifying the skills required for clean energy projects in the province, ensuring that Newfoundland and Labrador is prepared to meet the evolving demands of the energy sector. Additionally, she has worked on projects assessing opportunities for emissions reduction offshore. Her experience extends to green hydrogen projects in Newfoundland and Labrador, where she has developed a keen understanding of this burgeoning industry. Actively engaged in hydroelectric projects, she works to harness the province’s vast hydroelectric potential.

Beyond her professional achievements, Karen is deeply involved in the community. She is part of the organizing committee for golf fundraisers and champions Hatch fundraising initiatives such as Choices for Youth’s Coldest Night of the Year. An advocate for inspiring, engaging, and recruiting young professionals to join the energy sector, she is committed to community engagement. Karen was recently nominated and attended the One Young World Summit in Montreal which brings together young leaders from across the globe to discuss key topics such as energy, climate, health and security.

Karen’s dedication to the community and her professional accomplishments have made her a respected figure in the energy sector. Her ability to balance technical expertise with a genuine commitment to sustainability and community engagement sets her apart as a leader. She believes in the power of collaboration and innovation to drive the energy transition forward, and her work reflects this belief.

As a candidate for re-election to the board of Energy NL, Karen brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record of success, and a passion for energy in Newfoundland and Labrador. With her re-election, Karen aims to continue supporting Newfoundland and Labrador in maintaining and expanding its leadership as a world-class producer in all forms of energy.



Jonathan Thorne, Operation Manager at TEAM Industrial Services

With over 20 years of experience in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections, Jonathan Thorne has built a distinguished career across industrial and commercial sectors. He has worked extensively in operations and, more recently, in management, overseeing NDT activities in various inspection disciplines at Team Industrial Services.

His expertise spans pulp and paper mill shutdowns, oil refineries, and supervising critical infrastructure projects such as past penstock operations and Newfoundland Hydro’s Holyrood Generating Station. He has also led pipeline radiography operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.

Born and raised in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, Jonathan takes immense pride in his heritage and is a passionate advocate for the province’s growth and advancement. He is always seeking new challenges that not only further his career but also contribute to Newfoundland’s future development.

Beyond his professional life, Jonathan is a devoted family man—a proud father of two beautiful daughters and husband to an amazing and supportive wife, all of whom share his deep Newfoundland roots. He is also an active volunteer in the local hockey community, playing a key role in girls’ minor hockey and holding a director’s seat within the league, helping shape opportunities for young athletes.

Jonathan remains committed to fostering innovation, progress, and sustainability in Newfoundland, ensuring a strong foundation for future generations.
