Energy NL Remembers Flight 491

(St. John’s, NL – March 10, 2023) Sunday, March 12 marks 14 years since Flight 491 crashed in the waters off Newfoundland and Labrador, resulting in the loss of 17 of the 18 people on board. On this solemn anniversary, Energy NL remembers these individuals, the survivor, as well as the family and friends who lost a loved one on that day.

The tragedy serves as a constant reminder of the challenges faced by those working in Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore. On Sunday, March 12, 2023, Eastern Chaplaincy will host, on behalf of the families, friends, and co-workers of those lost, a special 14th Annual Memorial Service for Cougar Flight 491. The Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. NST at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, 565 Kenmount Road, St. John’s, NL. A livestream of the service will be available here.

On March 12, Energy NL asks everyone to remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day in 2009.

Energy NL represents approximately 500 member organizations worldwide which are involved in the energy sector.
