(St. John’s, NL – May 18, 2021) The following statement was issued today by Noia CEO Charlene Johnson on the recent passing of Mr. Roy Farrell, former Chair of the Noia Board of Directors.
“The Newfoundland and Labrador offshore oil and gas sector recently lost a leader and an industry champion.
“Roy Farrell was first elected to Noia’s Board of Directors in 2003 and served two years as a director. He was again elected in 2005 as vice-chair and followed through as chair and past chair in 2006 and 2007.
“Roy devoted significant time to Noia, promoting growth of the industry and building local capacity. Noia members remember Roy for his collaborative approach and his commitment to the offshore oil and gas industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.
“On behalf of Noia I extend heartfelt condolences to his partner Sharon, his children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.”
The Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas Industries Association (Noia) was founded in 1977 to represent the supply and service sector of the offshore oil and gas industry. Today, Noia represents approximately 460 member organizations worldwide which are involved in, or benefit from, the oil and gas industry of Newfoundland and Labrador. Noia members are a diverse representation of businesses that range from offshore supply boats and helicopters, health and safety equipment and training, engineering solutions and fabricators to law firms and human resource agencies.
