The governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada are leading jurisdictions in their commitments to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Noia is supportive of the role the offshore oil & gas industry can play in meeting these targets and for some time it has been collaborating with partners across the industry to examine the role of clean technology in moving our industry forward and helping to lower the carbon footprint.
As part of the theme for the day, “Evolving Our Offshore: Balancing the Energy Mix,” Fall Seminar will examine the role of clean tech in detail with not only a main breakout session dedicated to clean tech, but also through on-demand, pre-recorded presentations. Specifically, two on-demand presentations sessions will highlight findings of feasibility reports commissioned by Noia, the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industries Association (NEIA), the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Nalcor Energy – Oil and Gas, and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP).
Scott Humber, Senior Electrical Engineer, Aker Solutions, will present his company’s study on electrification of offshore FPSOs, while Mike Paulin, Operations Director, Intecsea, will present on a study of using wind energy to electrify offshore facilities. As well, Jim Herbertson, Technical Director, Climate and Energy, IPIECA, will speak about the energy transition and implementing sustainable development approaches in the process. These sessions will explore the potential future of offshore operations.
Fall Seminar has a lot to offer and providing on-demand sessions will allow attendees to take in these three important presentations at a time that is convenient for them. Attendees can accordingly plan their day around the main session, three breakout sessions, and the on-demand presentations to make the most of their Fall Seminar experience.
