COVID-19 is having an impact on the offshore.

The chair and CEO of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, Scott Tessier, says measures are being taken to ensure all workers in the offshore are kept safe.

Since March 6th, enhanced screening protocols have been in place before workers board helicopters for the offshore and similar testing protocols are in place for offshore supply vessels.

International workers brought in from other parts of the world must self-isolate before traveling to the offshore.

He says offshore workers are no different than any other traveler.

He says they’re looking at the situation very closely because of the number of international workers in the offshore. It’s one of the particular risks in the offshore, says Tessier.
