Noia 2017 Oil & Gas Conference Tackles Important and Timely Industry Issues

St. John’s, NL (June 21, 2017) — The 32nd annual Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) Oil & Gas Conference continued today at the St. John’s Convention Centre with delegates receiving updates from federal Minister of Natural Resources James Carr, Nalcor Energy and our industry’s newest entrants, Nexen Energy and Navitas Petroleum.

Delegates also benefitted from an informative panel discussion focused on our untapped resources and how can we maximize these near-term opportunities efficiently and effectively.

“This morning started off with a keynote address from the federal Minister of Natural Resources who not only recognized the oil and gas industry as the cornerstone of Canada’s current and future economy, but also expressed his government’s support of ensuring that the NL offshore remains an attractive area to explore and develop,” said Robert Cadigan, Noia President and CEO. “Minister Carr also stated that the current joint management framework works very well and noted that the offshore boards have an impressive track record on environmental assessment. We, along with the Provincial Government, look forward to a renewed EA process that avoids adding unnecessary duplication or uncertainty to an already robust process and we will continue to advocate on this important issue on behalf of the Noia membership.”
