St. John’s, NL (June 22, 2016) — The 32nd annual Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) Oil & Gas Conference continued today at the St. John’s Convention Centre with delegates receiving updates from Statoil Canada and Suncor Energy, as well as an overview from Husky Energy on how innovation is helping with the integrity management of the SeaRose FPSO along with other aging assets. Delegates also benefitted from hearing from an impressive roster of global industry leaders through an engaging panel discussion focused on how different jurisdictions are adapting to global change.
“The oil & gas industry is going through a time of significant change and the need for all stakeholders to standardize, commercialize, simplify and innovate was echoed by all of today’s panelists,” said Robert Cadigan, Noia President and CEO. “Today’s program also included an informative session dedicated to existing opportunities in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin. Clearly, while this province’s future may be based in the deeper waters of the Flemish Pass, this shallower basin still offers many short-term opportunities through current workover technology.”
The Noia Oil & Gas Conference is Canada’s flagship offshore oil & gas industry event, attracting industry leaders from around the world. The 2016 program features an impressive roster of prominent speakers to address key industry topics, with sessions dedicated to: the impact of oil prices on global markets; responses and actions resulting from the drop in oil prices in different jurisdictions and what these mean to the Atlantic Canada offshore; the current opportunities in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin; technology and innovation and their impact on operational efficiency; as well as an informed look at the future of exploration and assessment of Newfoundland and Labrador’s frontier basin potential.
