The following statement was issued today by Noia CEO Charlene Johnson on the recent passing of Mr. Frank Smith.
“Our industry recently lost a leader, a supporter, and an early innovator.
Frank Smith was first elected to Noia’s Board of Directors in 1987 and served two years as a director. He was again elected in 1994, this time as vice-president, and followed through as president and past-president in 1995 and 1996.
Frank devoted significant time to Noia, assisting with and promoting development of the industry during the 1980s and 1990s. Noia members remember Frank for his business-like manner and his commitment to the offshore oil and gas industry of Newfoundland and Labrador during its early days and strengthening the position of the industry in research and infrastructure. He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour.
On behalf of Noia I extend heartfelt condolences to his wife Sheila, his sons, grandchildren and extended family and friends.”
