On February 15, 1982 the Ocean Ranger semi-submersible drill rig sank on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and Labrador, claiming the lives of all 84 crew members.

Gonzaga High School in St. John’s will host its annual Ocean Ranger Memorial Service on Friday, February 14 at 10:45 a.m. at St. Pius X Church on Smithville Crescent. The service is open to the general public.
