(St. John’s, NL – March 24, 2022) The following statement was issued today by Energy NL CEO Charlene Johnson in response to a delay in the offshore call for bids process imposed by the Government of Canada.
“Energy NL is concerned with another delay in the regulatory process associated with the offshore oil and gas industry, specifically the offshore call for bids. This is exactly the kind of uncertainty that turns away industry participants and investors.
“Energy NL is seeking clarification from the federal government on why this delay has occurred and the timeline for the process to resume. We are pleased to see that Minister Andrew Parsons has approved the bid round and expects it to proceed.
“Offshore exploration is the foundation of our industry and we request the Government of Canada to expeditiously complete their review.”
