This year will be the 20th anniversary of Noia’s Industry Achievement Awards and we have some exciting changes in the works as we prepare to honour the people and companies leading our industry.
Since 2002 Noia has been recognizing those who have driven our industry successes and milestones, as well as those building the path for us to achieve our next great successes. The Outstanding Contribution Award and the Rising Star Award have acknowledged leaders and innovators, and we will continue to recognize these contributions.
I am thrilled to say Noia will be honouring the contributions of an industry titan; an individual who through his unwavering and diligent support, helped ensure the start of our offshore oil and gas industry and the tremendous benefits it has provided us since. Noia is renaming the Outstanding Contribution Award to the John C. Crosbie Award for Outstanding Contribution to honour the legacy of one of the industry’s founding fathers, a champion for Newfoundland and Labrador companies and local content, Mr. John C. Crosbie.
The John C. Crosbie Award for Outstanding Contribution will continue to recognize individuals who have provided exemplary service to the energy industry of Newfoundland and Labrador, and will specifically honour individuals who throughout their career have advocated for and supported the inclusion and growth of Noia members and Newfoundland and Labrador companies in the energy industry. Mr. Crosbie was a true friend to our industry, a man of conviction, a visionary. It will be a privilege to honour his contributions to our energy industry by awarding the inaugural John C. Crosbie Award for Outstanding Achievement during the Industry Achievement Awards gala.
We will once again be awarding the Rising Star Award to recognize outstanding achievement by an impressive individual, 40 years old or under, who has made remarkable strides in their role within the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry. As COVID-19 prevented Noia from awarding the Rising Star Award for 2020 & 2021, the age eligibility has been adjusted for the 2022 awarding and the nominee must be 40 years of age or under as of December 31st, 2020.
When our gala event takes place May 31, 2022, during our annual conference and exhibition, we will also have three new awards to present as part of the ceremony. I am pleased to announce the addition of a Diversity and Inclusion Award, an Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award, and a Business Growth Award.
The Diversity and Inclusion Award will recognize an individual for their important work in the area of diversity and inclusion within the local energy industry. The recipient will be someone who has made a significant contribution to the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry in the area of diversity and inclusion, and their efforts will have had a positive impact on their business or organization, or the local industry.
The Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award will recognize a Noia member company which has achieved success in innovation through the development and implementation of an innovative product, technology, process, program, or policy which has or will benefit the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry by reducing its environmental footprint and helping the industry achieve net zero by 2050.
he Business Growth Award will recognize a Noia member company which has achieved exceptional growth and success in its business through market development, export, diversification, and leadership.
Our industry has so much to offer and is making extremely impactful achievements and we must recognize and celebrate those accomplishments. We must be proud of the people and organizations who make us successful and contribute to our economy, our industry, and our society. We will honour these contributions during the Noia Annual Conference and Exhibition and I encourage you to save the date in your calendars for May 31 as we ready for this gala evening.
Should you know an individual and/or company worthy of recognition through one of these awards, I encourage you to visit our website for full details on the criteria for each award and for a nomination form. Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022.
I look forward to recognizing the exceptional talent and success within the Noia membership.
Stay well.
