St. John’s, NL (March 5, 2021) – At 9:48 a.m. March 12, 2009, the accident of Cougar Flight
491 off the coast of St. John’s, NL, resulted in the loss of life of 17 people. This year marks the
twelfth anniversary of this loss of life.
Due to public health measures, this year’s memorial service will be virtual.
On Friday, March 12, 2021, Eastern Chaplaincy will host, on behalf of the families, friends and co-workers of those lost, a special Time of Remembrance. The virtual Time of Remembrance will be available on demand beginning at 12:01am NST through Eastern Chaplaincy’s website at https://easternchaplaincy.ca/. You can also access the Time of Remembrance through the Eastern Chaplaincy YouTube Channel.
