A task force tapped to recommend how best to divvy up $320-million in federal funding for the province’s offshore oil industry is making great progress, according to Premier Andrew Furey.
In fact, he says he expects to receive recommendations from the task force ahead of schedule, though he didn’t set a date or timeline.
He says the goal is to approve individual projects as soon as possible to assist displaced workers and their families.
Furey says applications still have to be reviewed and matched with the parameters for the funding, adding he’s “pretty comfortable” with the amount of money provided by Ottawa.
