Stephen C. Edwards has been appointed President of Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd (HMDC). Prior to this appointment Stephen was Vice President, ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. (EMC) based in St. John’s, NL, and responsible for EMC’s safety, security, health, and environment functions as well as engagement with local regulators and industry.
Stephen began his career in 2004 with ExxonMobil Canada in St. John’s as a project engineer. In 2007, he moved to Houston, TX where he joined ExxonMobil Development Company and held a number of progressively senior technical, supervisory, and management roles on mega projects in the USA, Russia and Canada. In 2017, Stephen became Hebron hookup and commissioning manager responsible for project execution activities through first oil and transition to operations.
Stephen attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where he received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. He is a registered member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador. Stephen is Chair of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Regulatory Strategy Committee and is a Director on the Board of One Ocean. In 2018, Stephen was the recipient of the Noia Rising Star Award.
