Noia Oil & Gas Conference 2018 Begins Tomorrow

The Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) will host its 34th annual oil & gas conference from June 19-21, 2018 at the St. John’s Convention Centre. Themed Redefining Oil: The Time is Now, the 2018 conference will once again deliver the latest updates on activities in Canada’s offshore oil & gas industry and focus on the imperative to foster an environment that supports timely development of offshore oil & gas resources for the benefit of all Canadians.

Session One: Our Changing Industry
Findings of the Fraser Institute’s 2017 Global Petroleum Survey underline the ever-changing nature of the oil & gas industry, with Newfoundland and Labrador now ranking as the most attractive Canadian jurisdiction for oil & gas investment and British Columbia and Alberta named least attractive. This session will take a closer look at the survey results, including the impact of the regulatory environment, political stability, taxation and other factors on the findings. Delegates will also hear from the president of ExxonMobil Canada on the company’s offshore projects in this province and globally, as well as from Nalcor Energy on recent geoscience work and how Newfoundland and Labrador fits within the global industry.

This session will also feature an update from Husky Energy on current offshore Newfoundland and Labrador projects, including the recently sanctioned Husky wellhead platform.
